BOILERMAKER – WORKSHOP

THE COMPANY

A long serving and reputable Illawarra based Engineering company specialising in steel fabrication and shutdown manintenance projects for Bluecope, local Mines and infrastructure providers is seeking qualified Boilermakers and competent MIG and Stick Welders to assist with a large workload forecast to run well beyond the New Year, with Saturdays on offer along with some after hours Overtime

THE ROLE

As a qualified Boilermaker with experience in structural steel fabrication, you will be working on various tasks for the new blast furnace reline project
This will involve the fabricating and assembling of structural steel components to specification, ensuring all projects meet their high standards of quality, and according to deadlines and safety protocols
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, willing to work consistent overtime and will thrive in a fast-paced and focused workshop environment

GENERAL DAILY DUTIES

  • Fabricate and assemble structural steel components based on technical drawings and project specifications
  • Measure, cut, and shape steel components to precise specifications
  • Conduct thorough inspections of materials and completed work to ensure compliance with quality standards and safety regulations
  • Maintain and operate workshop tools and equipment in a skilled, safe and efficient manner
  • Collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure timely project delivery
  • Uphold workshop safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment at all times
  • Be committed to working in a team and with minimal supervision

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Trade Qualification in Engineering or Related Mechanical field
  • Minimum 5 years post qualification experience
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and blueprints with comprehensive diagnostic skills & mechanical troubleshooting expertise
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and solve mechanical issues
  • Ability to follow instructions and accurately and safely complete tasks assigned
  • Competent use of hand tools, hot torchers, equipment and machines to cut, shape, bend, join, grind etc of metals
  • Competent Welding skills
  • Good communication skills, both written & verbal
  • Can understand and work to all OHS & safety requirements
  • Full Australian working rights
  • Full PPE including own welding helmet
  • A recent employer references
