BOILERMAKER – WORKSHOP FABRICATION

A long established leader in the steel fabrication sector, specializing in the design, fabrication and installation of structural steel components for a variety of sectors including construction, mining, and infrastructure
As they continue to expand their scope of high profile projects, they require skilled Boilermakers to assist with ongoing work within their team, based at their main factory in Fairfield
THE ROLE
As a qualified Boilermaker competent with all aspects of structural steel fabrication, you will assist the workshop team on the new MCL7 Project for Bluescope and the Cross City Tunnel project
You will be involved in the fabricating and assembling of structural steel components to specification, ensuring all projects meet their high standards of quality, and according to deadlines and safety protocols
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, willing and able to commit to a 58 hour standard working week and will thrive in a fast-paced and focused workshop environment
GENERAL DAILY DUTIES
- Fabricate and assemble structural steel components from technical drawings and project specifications
- Conduct thorough inspections of materials and completed work to ensure compliance with quality standards and safety regulations
- Maintain and operate workshop tools and equipment in a skilled, safe and efficient manner
- Collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure timely project delivery
- Uphold workshop safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment at all times
- Be committed to working in a team and with minimal supervision
SELECTION CRITERIA
- Trade Qualified in Engineering or a related field
- Minimum 5 years post qualification experience with structural steel fabrication
- Ability to read and interpret plans and blueprints
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and solve mechanical issues
- Ability to follow instructions and accurately and safely complete tasks assigned
- Competent use of hand tools & machines utilised to cut, shape, bend, join, grind etc of metals
- Competent Welding skills
- Good communication skills, both written & verbal
- Can understand and work to all OHS & safety requirements
- Full Australian working rights
- Full PPE, basic tools & welding helmet
- One recent, relevant employer reference
